Quantum of Solace - new poster arrives

A new official poster for the next Bond movie has arrived, hot on the heels of the recently revealed trailer.

This is the UK 'quad' version which has been spotted in a few cinemas around the UK by observant Bond fans. As you can see by clicking HERE it uses the same imagery seen in the trailer. Simple but effective is probably a good way of describing it.

The film gets a UK release on October 31st, a good week earlier than the US release on November 7th.

Hancock hits big! (But will it last?)

So the american public have come out in their droves for Will Smith's latest blockbuster, despite a lukewarm reception from the critics and many movie-goers.

Rottentomatoes has got Hancock at a sad 35% from critic's ratings, yet it has already reached a whopping $112 million (domestic) since the July 2nd release date. However on IMDB the film's average rating is currently standing at 6.9/10, not too good considering it's huge box office take.

This suggests that there might well be a large drop off during it's second and third weeks, yet the Will Smith factor could provide it with strong legs.

Next week sees the release of the sure to be massive The Dark Knight. Surely everything will be eclipsed when Bale, Ledger and co. arrive at the multiplex.

The Day The Earth Stood Still remake trailer hits

The original movie is a sci-fi classic, and it's always risky to attempt to remake a classic. But this december sees the release of the new version of The Day The Earth Stood Still, starring Keanu Reeves (in the lead role), Jennifer Connelly and Kathy Bates.
This first trailer is intruiging, but also slightly worrying. A couple of lines of the dialogue sound a little clunky, and Reeves has always been pretty hit and miss.
The most exciting thing about this preview is the brief glimpse we get of Gort, the lethal robot-bodyguard lovingly remembered by fans of the original. Click on the link below to watch.

The Dark Knight Hype

So, the next big superhero blockbuster is only a couple more weeks away, and it's safe to say that the buzz is pretty much off the scale.

Internet movie-geeks are about to explode with excitement as Batman returns to the big screen to face off against Heath Ledger's Joker. Reviews such as this one at 'aintitcoolnews' aren't doing anything to calm the Bat-fans' already dangerously high levels of anticipation. Early word definitely suggests that this will be one of the best blockbusters of the year, after the moderate disappointment of Indiana Jones 4.

Perhaps the most intruiging question (if you find this kind of stuff interesting) is whether The Dark Knight will be able to beat Iron Man's box office take. Robert Downey Jr.'s superhero hit big at the B.O, but Batman certainly has enough clout to challenge those numbers.
